About Me

I grew up in suburban Melbourne the youngest of six siblings. I was lucky enough to spend many school holidays in country Victoria, learning a bit about rural life.
 

I’ve been married to my wonderful wife Christine for more than thirty years and I am the proud father of our son, Dean, and our daughter Grace. Chris and I are extremely excited by the imminent arrival of our first grandchild!
 

My working life has included time as a professional musician, a school teacher, a Coach of Aussie Rules football and cricket, as a Weber service technician and, these days, a salesman of Weber Barbeques.
 

I love spending time in the company of our family and friends, sharing good food, wine and conversation. I enjoy movies and the theatre, watching sports, cooking shows and anything on the History Chanel. I’m a Sudoku, Wordle, crossword and trivia quiz tragic and I enjoy playing and recording music in my home studio – and writing.
 

For as long as I can remember I’ve been fascinated by World War 1. My library is full of books about the Great War and I’ve read all of them more than once but ultimately, it is in the written and spoken words of the soldiers themselves that I find inspiration to write; in their letters home and diary entries, their poetry and songs and in the filmed interviews they gave as old men looking
back.
